The A350-900 was delivered 2 years ago.

Japan authorities says five crew members of the coast guard aircraft are missing after a reported collision with the passenger plane. NHK reported that the five other crewmembers had been found dead.

Coast Guard spokesperson Yoshinori Yanagishima confirmed the collision between the passenger plane and its flight MA-722, a Bombardier Dash-8 that was headed to Niigata airport on Japan’s west coast to deliver aid to those caught up in a powerful earthquake that struck on New Year’s Day, killing at least 48 people.

Airbus said in a statement that the aircraft involved in the accident, registered under the number JA13XJ, was MSN 538, delivered to Japan Airlines from the production line on 10 November 2021. It was powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.
