United Kingdom is experiencing a Flight Data Processing System failure.
UK air traffic control provider (NATS) is suffering is a specific system failure related to flight data processing.
- UPDATE 15:15 UK time The technical issue affecting the flight planning system has been fixed. NATS will slowly return to normal operations after managing all the affected flights.
- UPDATE 14: 20 UK time Flight plans are being input manually. NATS have applied traffic flow restrictions.
Airlines globally have been warned to expect significant disruption if operating to/from the UK.
Scottish and London FIRs are regulated at low rates with very high individual delays.
Currently there is no indication of when a solution for the failure will be available so no improvements for flights entering UK airspace are forseen in the near future.

“We are currently experiencing a technical issue and have applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety. Engineers are working to find and fix the fault.”
