20 passengers have tested positive for COVID-19 on the final London-Jamaica flight on Monday, 21st December.
A total of 301 passengers had arrived on Monday, and 20 of them tested positive on arrival in Jamaica. These passengers will now be kept in state isolation until they are recovered.
The Government of Jamaica has banned all flights from the UK until 4 January 2021. The Ministry of Health and Wellness had stated on Monday morning to prohibit all flights from the UK.
However, the ministry advised that flights over the next 24 hours up to midnight Tuesday will be allowed. The statement read:
“The country is expecting three flights from the UK over the next 24 hours, one of which is already en route. However, passengers who board those flights will be subjected to a minimum of 48-hour state quarantine and PCR testing.”
