Germany’s pilot union “Vereinigung Cockpit (VC)” calls for a major Ryanair strike – the first ever strike in the low-cost carrier’s history
This announcement by VC comes after the pilot’s unions in Italy and Portugal had called their members to strike against Ryanair due to disputes over pay and working conditions. The airline’s Dublin based pilots also threaten to take industrial action.
Europe’s largest short-haul airline now faces major flight disruptions over the Christmas holidays, but there will be no strikes from VC, December 23rd to December 26th.
Vereinigung Cockpit says:
“Ryanair can stop the German industrial action right now by declaring the willingness to negotiate proper terms and conditions of work and remuneration, a last chance is still being offered“
Ryanair pilots say the airline threatens to punish striking pilots with ‘cuts to pay and benefits’.
