Two Air Canada Airbus A330 aircraft returned to Montréal due to technical issue on the same route.

Thursday, March 20 2025, the flight AC866 toLondon Heathrow returned to Montréal after 5 hours and 50 minutes in the air.

The Airbus A330-300 (registration C-GEGP) departed Montréal at 20:34 EDT (scheduled 20:15) but turned around over Labrador sea.

Following the technical issue, passengers were disembarked and boarded a spare A330 which left during the night to London.

The next day, Friday, March 21 2025, the same flight AC866 departed Montréal to London Heathrow operated by a 23-year-old A330-300 (registration C-GHKW).

The aircraft left gate A73 and climbed only to 16,000ft when the pilots requested an immediate return. It landed back in Montréal only 41 minutes after departure.

The flight was later cancelled.
