United flight from Geneva to Newark was forced to divert to London Heathrow today.
Flight UA957 departed Geneva at 04:42 CET today Monday, December 30 2024. But about one hour into the flight, the aircraft started to circle over France as the pilots were dealing with a technical issue on board.
The airline decided to divert the Boeing 767-300ER (registration N661UA) due to “aircraft maintenance inspection”.
The flight diverted to London Heathrow Airport, 1 hour and 54 minutes after departure, landed safely on runway 27R.
Three hours later, after inspection, the Boeing 767 resumed the flight to Newark where it is expected to land at 4:13pm, 3 hours and 38 minutes late.
In September 2024, the same aircraft, performing the flight from Newark to Geneva turned around over Atlantic and diverted to St. John’s, Canada due to smoke on board.
We regularly report the technical issues United Airlines is experiencing on its Boeing 767 fleet. The aircraft involved in the incident today is 31 years old.
