A trainee pilot has successfully made an emergency landing after his instructor fell ill mid-flight.
Max Sylvester was training in a Cessna aircraft in the skies of Perth on Saturday afternoon when his instructor fell unconscious.
“I’m trying to keep him up but he keeps falling down,” Mr Sylvester told the controller.
“Do you know how to operate the aeroplane,” the operator asks.
“This is my first lesson,” Mr Sylvester replies.
The air traffic controller is then heard talking the trainee pilot through the process to land the plane over 50 minutes.
Mr Sylvester landed the plane safely at Jandakot Airport with the instructor was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Chuck McElwee, who owns and operates the flying school, said he had never had an incident like this in his 28 years in business.
