A passenger gave birth to a baby girl during a flight from Dakar to Brussels despite the quick emergency landing.
Not long after takeoff from Dakar, a passenger alerted the crew she was pregnant and in severe pain. Jennifer, one of the cabin crew members and a mother herself, quickly realized these weren’t just stomach cramps.
With the help of a recently graduated nurse onboard, they timed her contractions. Moments later, her water broke. The pilots were informed of the situation and decided to return to Dakar. However, the labour was too far along, and the baby was born mid-flight.
As the aircraft made its way back, the little one arrived mid-flight. The first moments were tense. And then, the most beautiful sound filled the cabin: her first cry.
A doctor on board confirmed the baby girl was healthy, and relief washed over everyone.
