A Delta Airbus A330-300 suffered technical issues forcing passengers to be stuck in Amsterdam for 2 days.

The faulty aircraft arrived in Amsterdam Schiphol airport on Tuesday, October 1 2024, operating flight DL48 from New York JFK.

The Airbus A330-300 (registration N819NW) was scheduled to operate flight #DL163 to Minneapolis, MN on October 1st, but due to technical issue, the flight was cancelled.

The airline then scheduled this aircraft for flight #DL161 to Minneapolis, MN (earlier departure then #DL163) on October 2nd.

The flight was scheduled to depart AMS at 10:15 CEST but took off about 4 hours late at 14:07.

The Airbus A330-300 took off from runway 36L but stopped the climb at only 6,000 ft with landing gear still down. The crew decided to turn around.

Pilots didn’t declare an emergency but requested ATC for an immediate return to Amsterdam.

The aircraft landed on runway 06 only 31 minutes after departure and is now under maintenance.
