A Scandinavian Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing after a mouse scurried out of a passenger’s in-flight meal.
A SAS A321 aircraft flying from Norway’s capital Oslo to Malaga in Spain and was forced to make an emergency landing in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The SAS flight #SK4683 departed Oslo Wednesday, September 18 2024 at lunch time and climbed to 36,000 ft.
The pilots entered a hold and finally decided to divert to Copenhagen due to an incident on board.
Passenger Jarle Borrestad told the BBC that he was seated next to the woman whose food the mouse was in. As she opened the boxed meal, the mouse scurried out, he said.
Mr Borrestad said the situation was very calm and that people “were not stressed at all”. However, he admitted that he did put his socks over his trousers so the mouse did not crawl up his legs.
Airline spokesperson Oystein Schmidt told AFP that the emergency landing in Copenhagen, Denmark was in line with company procedures, since mice and other rodents can pose a safety risk.
Passengers were transferred to a different aircraft to resume their journey to Spain. Borrestad told the BBC that the delay added only a few hours to the trip.
