About ten people who were supposed to board the plane that crashed in Brazil on August 9, 2024, made a mistake when boarding.
On Friday, August 9, 2024, a plane crashed near São Paulo, Brazil. The crash killed 61 people, all of the passengers.
But that day another plane was making the same flight as the one that crashed. About ten passengers were saved by taking the wrong flight.
The lack of information on the display boards misled them when choosing the boarding gate.
When I arrived here (at the airport), I was waiting for the flight, but the display boards and speakers didn’t indicate anything. There was no one at the counter.”
Adriano Assis, a passenger
Shortly before his flight, an employee told him that he would not be able to board the plane: “I even argued with him, but in the end he saved my life, he did his job” the passenger said.
This same passenger threw himself in tears into the arms of the employee when he learned that the plane had crashed.
Two other people told local news portal CGN that they got lost in the airport and were denied boarding by staff. They were initially angry but now say they are relieved.
Following this deadly crash, the Brazilian Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa) has opened an investigation. Analyze of the black boxes found on August 11 is currently in progress.
