On 27th March, an IndiGo Airbus A320neo collided with an Air India Express Boeing 737 on the ground at Kolkata Subhas Chandra Bose Airport, India. Both aircraft returned to the gate after sustaining damage.

The IndiGo Airbus A320neo aircraft with registration VT-ISS was taxiing for departure at Kolkata Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU). However, while taxiing, the A320neo collided with a parked Air India Express Boeing 737 with registration VT-TGG).

Reports suggest that the IndiGo A320neo was awaiting clearance to enter the runway when it made inadvertent contact with the wingtip of the parked Air India Express aircraft.

Thankfully, the collision appears to have been minor, causing damage only to the wingtip extensions, known as winglets, on both airplanes.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s aviation regulator, has also initiated a probe into the incident to determine the cause.

As a result of the incident, IndiGo flight 6E6152, scheduled to fly from Kolkata to Darbhanga, was delayed. According to IndiGo officials, passengers onboard were provided with refreshments while arrangements were made to minimize inconvenience.

An alternate aircraft was managed to ensure the delayed flight departed as soon as possible.
