Pilots spotted a balloon passing very close to their aircraft.
The images reveal that when the aircraft was flying at an altitude of almost 35,000 feet, pilots had visual contact with a big balloon carrying the Brazilian flag.
The balloon was at the same altitude. Fortunately, the flight was carried out during the day and under visual conditions which allowed the pilots to detect the balloon and avoid a possible collision.
In the recording it is heard that one of the pilots says: “we are going to have to report it”
It is unusual that the air traffic control centers have not alerted the aircraft about this balloon and could mean the launch was illegal.
