The United Boeing 767, involved in an incident few days ago, declared an emergency and returned to Chicago

United flight to Zurich was forced to return to Chicago ORD.

The flight #UA3 took off from Chicago ORD one hour late at 4:50 pm to Zurich o July 26th.

But 30 minutes into the flight, the crew declared an emergency, requesting for an immediate return to Chicago.

The aircraft landed back at ORD about 1h20 after departure due to a new mechanical issue. Passengers had to wait hours to resume the flight on another one.

The plane is 24 years old and sources in Chicago confirmed AIRLIVE it was due to a mechanical issue.

This particular Boeing 767 was already involved in an incident few days ago , July 17th. This aircraft (reg. N666UA) was arriving from Zurich when it lost an evacuation slide in mid-air on final approach to Chicago’s O’Hare.

A man and his son were inside their home and heard a boom in their backyard.

They dragged the slide from the backyard to the front of the home. They said the large piece of equipment damaged the roof of the home and a kitchen window.

The flight #UA3 to Zurich was the first since this incident.
