A Jet2 flight from Glasgow bound for Tenerife was forced to divert to Paro, Portugal after a passenger reportedly urinated in the cabin.

The Boeing 737-800 with registration G-JZHT was operating flight LS155 from Glasgow to Tenerife South Airport on 13th April.

According to the airline, the man was identified as Eric Forrest. The 55-year-old was reportedly aggressive, and drunk, intimidating other passengers and even children. He was also suspected of using drugs.

The flight was diverted to Faro, Portugal, where Forrest was not arrested but was prohibited from continuing his journey. Passengers on the flight bound for Tenerife suffered a 24-hour delay due to the passenger.

“After he was offloaded, customers had to disembark the aircraft in Faro so that the aircraft could be cleaned before departing to Tenerife,” said an airlines spokesperson.

“As well as causing a delay to customers looking forward to their well-deserved holidays in Tenerife, this also meant customers due to travel back to Glasgow from Tenerife had to spend another night in destination due to the late arrival of the aircraft.”

After landing in Portugal, Forrest apologized publicly and admitted that he was drunk at the time of the incident, but denied having urinated in the cabin, assuring that he had only spilled vodka.

Jet2 Managing Director Phil Ward apologized to all its passengers and employees affected by the incident and said that the passenger has been banned for life and the airline is seeking compensation for the costs incurred.
