On March 15, 2022, Lufthansa Cargo’s first Airbus 321 freighter entered into service for the first time.
The flight took off at 16:21 (CET), under flight number LH8350. The flight took off from Frankfurt, Germany (FRA) to Dublin, Ireland (DUB), then continued to Manchester, UK (MAN). The aircraft, named “Hello Europe” was loaded with regular cargo.
The airline has been addressing the rising e-commerce demand very well, and with new aircraft, the airline can offer customers even more capacity and diverse destinations. Lufthansa’s freighter presence will be further strengthened after its network grows. The airline will fly to Cairo (CAI) starting March 29. The airline will also fly to Dublin, Manchester, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Malta, and Tunis, two to three times a week.
Lufthansa Cargo names its aircraft after destinations to which the aircraft flies. “Hello, Europe” was chosen to greet the European countries on which the aircraft will be used in the future. Costumers, employees, and journalists learned more about the new A321F in a virtual live streaming event. The airline operates 11 Boeing 777F freighters, and the second A321F will arrive this summer. Both A321Fs will be operated under a wet-lease agreement by Lufthansa CityLine.
The chairperson of the Executive Board and CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, Dorothea von Boxberg, commented:
