KlasJet crew members were detained by the Belgian Authorities for more than three hours at Charleroi Airport on June 30th, as reported by the European business aviation company.

KlasJet Boeing 737 crew were detained after the plane landed at Charleroi to collect the Belgium National Team players for the Euro 2020. KlasJet was chosen to transport the national team during Euro 2020.

The four-cabin crew members and the two pilots were not allowed to contact as their phones were seized. Neither were they allowed to request legal support and give testimony in their native language.

Brussels Airlines might have influenced this treatment, who lost a lucrative National football team’s transport contract to VIP service-oriented sports teams carrier – KlasJet. However, the authorities did not provide any reasoning for this arrest.

Commenting on this, KlasJet CEO Rita Domkute said:

“This is just the tip of the iceberg that was a month-long harassment and terrorizing actions, executed with the help of Belgian authorities and by using the undisclosed legal framework to discriminate against EU based carrier KlasJet by obstructing the company’s routine operations.”

“All our repetitive inquiries for authorities to clarify legal grounds of their actions were ignored. Hence, we ask Belgium legal bodies involved in the process to provide information on the legal basis of such detention,” Domkute continued.

Both the airline and the football team were immediately placed under immense pressure via social media after the contract was signed. The national team was urged to return to an all-economy seats Brussels Airlines aircraft.
