Preliminary investigations into the death of a cabin crew member who fell from a Boeing 777 at Entebbe International Airport recently indicates that she committed suicide.

Elena Vassileva, 46, a Bulgarian National, was part of the Emirates crew as flight #EK730 was preparing to fly to Dubai from Entebbe.

She fell from the emergency exit door of the plane sustaining life-threatening injuries and died on arrival to Our Lady of Consolata Kisubi Hospital, in the outskirts of Entebbe.

Initial reports indicated that Vassileva had a verbal exchange with her colleagues on the plane which had just landed at Entebbe on a flight from Dubai. It was also reported that she deliberately opened the door with a glass under her throat.

The Fly Emirates security team together with Aviation police immediately began investigations into what exactly led to the fall.

Basing on video evidence extracted from the plane, Vassileva moved to the emergency exit door as passengers were preparing to board and deliberately jumped out.

Other cabin crew members who have also been questioned corroborated the video footage.
