The boss of budget airline Jet2.com has written to the government appealing for help to crack down on badly-behaved passengers.
As summer gets into full swing, the airline is reporting the highest-ever figures of disruptive behaviour on board its flights – with a 20 per cent increase in drunken and abusive incidents compared to last year.
Now Jet2.com – which flies to 38 destinations from Manchester Airport – has banded together with operators including Monarch to demand industry-wide measures to tackle the problem.
Phil Ward, managing director of Jet2.com said, “It’s time to recognise this problem properly. We want official measures in place to stop this. We are a family airline and holiday company carrying millions of passengers every year.
