A striking new aerial video has captured an intense and close-range flyby of a fighter jet near the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.

The footage, shared recently on X (formerly Twitter), shows an U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet sweeping past a camera-equipped helicopter at extremely close proximity while the carrier sails below.

The video shows the Super Hornet approaching fast before rocketing past the helicopter. The USS Nimitz, one of the Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, can be seen steaming below as the aircraft performs the maneuver.

According to source, the sequence was filmed as part of the production for “Flight Ready,” an immersive aviation experience being created for the Apple Vision Pro. The project appears to be designed to showcase high-definition, 3D aerial visuals intended for Apple’s cutting-edge mixed-reality headset.

While such close-quarters aerial filming demands strict coordination, precision flying, and rigorous safety protocols, the resulting footage demonstrates the level of realism and immersion the Apple Vision Pro project aims to achieve.

Neither the U.S. Navy nor Apple has yet released additional details about the production, but the clip has quickly gained traction online, drawing praise from aviation enthusiasts for both the pilot’s skill and the impressive cinematography.
