A Royal Navy F-35B fighter jet made an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on the night of 14 June 2025.
The aircraft was operating from the UK aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales and was conducting routine flight operations outside Indian airspace. Thiruvananthapuram had been designated as its emergency recovery airfield.
Upon declaring an emergency and diverting from its planned route, the F-35B was detected and identified by the Indian Air Force’s Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), and was subsequently cleared for recovery.
The IAF is currently providing all necessary support for repairs and the aircraft’s eventual return to service.
