INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities are investigating a tragic incident at Indianapolis International Airport after a woman died from a fall on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. on April 25, 2026. According to airport police reports, dispatchers in the Airport Operations Center were monitoring security feeds when they observed a 38-year-old woman fall from the outer curb of the Upper Terminal Drive.

The woman plummeted approximately 50 feet, landing in a grassy area near Lower Memorial Drive.

Emergency Response

First responders from the Indianapolis Airport Police and Fire Departments reached the scene within minutes and immediately began life-saving measures. Medics from the Plainfield Fire Department also arrived to assist. Despite performing CPR and other emergency efforts for roughly 30 minutes, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Official Statements

The Indianapolis Airport Authority released a brief statement following the tragedy:

“The Indianapolis Airport Authority can confirm that a fatality occurred at approximately 12:19 p.m. today at the Indianapolis International Airport. Life-saving measures were administered but were unsuccessful. An investigation is in progress.”

Current Status

While the fall was captured on surveillance video, officials have not yet released the identity of the woman or clarified the circumstances leading up to the fall. Airport operations continued through the weekend, though the area where the woman landed remained cordoned off for several hours during the initial investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Indianapolis Airport Police Department. Further details are expected to be released once the Coroner’s Office completes its examination.
