A KLM flight from Amsterdam to Marseille has declared an emergency and now diverting to Paris.

PARIS – A KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight traveling from Amsterdam to Marseille declared a mid-air emergency while over French airspace on Friday morning, forcing an unscheduled diversion to Paris.

Flight Details

  • Flight Number: KL1465
  • Aircraft: Embraer 195-E2
  • Registration: PH-NXO
  • Departure: Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) at 09:47 CET
  • Original Destination: Marseille Provence Airport (MRS)

The aircraft was performing a routine scheduled service to the south of France and was expected to land in Marseille at 11:35 CET. However, while cruising over northern France, the flight crew transmitted a Squawk 7700, the international aviation code for a general emergency.

Emergency Diversion

Following the declaration, air traffic controllers prioritized the regional jet for an immediate descent. Initial tracking data showed the aircraft initiating a rapid descent from its cruising altitude before being vectored toward the French capital.

Note: The nature of the emergency—whether technical, medical, or security-related—has not yet been confirmed by KLM or French aviation authorities. Emergency services are typically met on the tarmac as a standard precautionary measure for any “7700” declaration.

UPDATE 10:43 CET
The aircraft is diverting to Paris (ORY) to address the unspecified onboard issue.

UPDATE 11:00 CET
Touch down on runway 25.

UPDATE 11:04 CET
The aircraft is now parked on remote area of the airport.
