A flight from Zurich to Miami has declared an emergency and is returning to Zurich.

The Swiss International Air Lines flight LX64 departed Zurich earlier in the afternoon to Miami MIA airport in Florida.

The flight, operated by an Airbus A330-300 with registration HB-JMH, climbed to 32,000 feet but turned around 1hour and 30 minutes later after flying over France.

The crew tried to solve an engine problem (CFM56) but finally took the decision to return to origin airport.

Pilots squawked 7700 (general emergency) and descended to FL280.
