A JetBlue A320 was also damaged from a bullet while returning from Haiti.

JetBlue Airways said a New York-bound flight from Haiti was struck by gunfire on the same day a Spirit Airlines plane was shot, forcing the company to temporarily halt all flights to the violence-plagued Caribbean nation.

JetBlue Flight #B6935 arrived at JFK International Airport on Monday following the incident with Spirit Airlines, with flight inspectors discovering a bullet hole in the plane’s exterior.

The flight was operated by an Airbus A320-200 (registration N623JB) on Monday, November 11 2024.

“We are actively investigating this incident in collaboration with relevant authorities,” JetBlue said in a statement, noting that the plane had experienced no issues during the flight.

Haitian authorities have already suspended flights in and out of Port-au-Prince for a week. On Tuesday, the US’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a notice prohibiting US civil aviation operations in Haiti below 10,000 feet, for 30 days.

This marks the second time this year air travel in and out of Haiti has been disrupted by the country’s escalating gang violence. After gangs launched coordinated attacks in late February to force the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry the country’s airports were closed for nearly three months.

Last month, a United Nations helicopter was also hit by bullets while flying over Port-au-Prince.
