An issue on runway 23R at Manchester forced several flights to go around or divert to nearby airports.
Two aircrafts did a go around and ops vehicles were on 23R for around 10 minutes forcing all flights to hold or divert.
Affected flights to Manchester:
- Jet2 #LS852 declared an emergency due to low fuel and diverted to Liverpool
- easyJet #U27851 diverted to Liverpool
- Jet2 #LS938 diverted to Liverpool
- British Airways #BA1402 diverted to Birmingham
- Eurowings #EW9345 performed a go around
According to source, a bird strike occurred on the runway. Several ops vehicles entered the runway 23R forcing the airport to stop flight operations.

The runway reopened.
