An Ariana Afghan Airlines Boeing 737-400 aircraft suffered significant damage after overrunning the runway during takeoff from Khost Airport. The incident occurred on flight FG403, bound for Dubai.

According to reports, the aircraft’s tail struck the ground and impacted a nearby fence before becoming airborne. Following the damage, the crew safely diverted the plane to Kabul International Airport, where it landed without further incident.

Passengers on board the flight have described the terrifying ordeal, recounting the sudden jolt and the impact of the aircraft hitting the ground. Some passengers reported feeling panic and fear as the plane struggled to gain altitude.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the runway excursion. Factors under consideration include weather conditions, pilot error, mechanical issues, or a combination of these factors.

Ariana Afghan Airlines is the national flag carrier of Afghanistan. The airline operates domestic and international flights from its hub at Kabul International Airport.

The incident marks a significant setback for the airline, which has been working to rebuild its operations following years of instability in the country.
