The flag carrier of Turkey, Turkish Airlines (TK), makes an emergency landing after an engine fire. The bird strikes the left engine of the Turkish aircraft.

The Turkish Airlines flight TK2015 operating Boeing 737-900 ER, had to return to its origin amid engine fire. The TK flight bound from Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR) to Istanbul Airport (IST) was hit by a bird shortly after takeoff.

According to Radar Box, the TK Boeing 737-9F2 (ER) took off at 3:16 PM UTC and was on track to land at IST. However, shortly after takeoff, a banging noise heard, and the left engine was on fire.

The pilot declared the emergency, and after dumping some extra fuel, it made an emergency landing at Kayseri Airport (ASR). The plane’s airborne time is 50 mins, and it landed back in Kayseri at 4:04 PM UTC.

The Twitter page Hava Sosyal Medya has shared the footage recorded by a passenger onboard the TK2015 flight.

ATC notified the airport ground fire and rescue service. They were prepared with all the firefighting equipment and ambulance. Luckily plane landed safely at Kayseri Airport, and all passengers departed.

In recent times, the incident caused due to birds are rising. Furthermore, we are frequently getting news that a bird strike leads to an emergency landing.

The passenger onboard stated that ” a loud noise (like an explosion) was heard during the takeoff of the Turkish airline flight, and a flame appeared in the left engine.”

In Jan 2021, Turkish Airlines (TK) Boeing 777F struck a flock of birds during takeoff from Istanbul Ataturk airport. The aircraft suffered visible damage to the radome along with the pilot tube.

However, after suffering the damage, the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet and entered a holding pattern before returning to Ataturk Airport. Subsequently, the aircraft made a safe landing some 45 minutes after departure.
