Emirates Flight #EK205 made a U-turn over the Atlantic on March 13, 2023 and returned to Milan.
The A380 was performing flight #EK205 from the international airport of Milan Malpensa to new York JFK Airport.
As the flight was expected to last 7 hours, the co-pilot suddenly felt an illness preventing from continuing his duty.
The pilot’s health conditions worried the entire crew who decided to turn over the Atlantic only 1h30 into flight and to return to Milan.
After notifying ATC, the aircraft (A6-EUD) performed the U-turn to come back to Italy.
More than 5h30 after departure, the plane landed back in Milan.
The plane was met by ambulance and the pilot was rescued by the medical personnel present inside the airport.
A statement said that the need to go back was determined by the need for urgent medical treatment.
