An Iberia plane on flight IB2602 from Buenos Aires to Barcelona had to make an emergency landing at Gran Canaria airport.
Flight IB2602, from Buenos Aires to Barcelona, carried out an emergency landing last morning at the Gando airport, in Gran Canaria, because a child who was traveling on board was found to be at vital risk, according to the controllers.
An ambulance was waiting for them at the foot of the stairs and transported him, with the family, to the nearest hospital.
The emergency took place at 2:09 in the morning and affected an Airbus 330 (reg: EC-NNH) that was at that time in the vicinity of Fuerteventura, at about 38,000 feet.
The plane landed just 20 minutes after the child’s poor state of health was confirmed on board.
Once the evacuation took place, the plane remained on the ground for an hour, leaving around 3:30 a.m. and landing around 7:30 a.m.
According to the controllers, the child is hospitalized, alive, and in a stable situation.
The controllers in his account have congratulated the crew for the rapid reaction that practically broke the record of speed between the identification of the severity of the problem and the admission to the hospital.
