INCIDENT Embraer ERJ-145 overran runway in Congo

An SJL Aeronautica Lubumbashi Embraer 135 overran the runway and came to a stop about 1150 feet past the end of the runway in Congo.

The Embraer ERJ-145 with registration D2-FIA was operating a flight from Kinshasa to Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

However, after landing in Lumbumbashi, the aircraft overran the runway and steered left clear of the localizer antenna, before eventually coming to a stop about 350 meters/1150 feet past the end of the runway.

The 33 people on board, suffered minor injuries and the aircraft sustained substantial damage.

According to local reports, there was rain in Lubumbashi all night, which could have resulted in the incident.
