Insane crack on Hatay Airport’s runway following earthquake in Turkey

The 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Turkiye has damaged the airport in Turkish Hatay province.

A major earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck central Turkey and northwest Syria today, killing more than 500 people and injuring hundreds as buildings collapsed across the region.

The earthquake was recorded in central Türkiye on Monday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.

The quake’s epicenter was located 26 km away from the city of Gaziantep with a population of about 1.06 million. The source of the earthquake was 7 km below the surface.

Turkey’s vice president has announced that flights are suspended from/to Hatay airport due to damage from the earthquake.

The airport is in Turkey’s south, close to the border with Syria and near the city of Aleppo.
