Passengers waiting at the gate to board BA2597 in Verona, Italy had to wait 6hrs to find out if they would be flying to Gatwick.
To avoid a passenger mutiny, the Captain had to be brought to the gate after local agents provided no information, to be told that the flight developed an emergency fault upon landing which required detailed investigation by technical staff.
Reports of ‘smoke’ in the cabin were denied, but the airline refused to provide more details at this time.
