INCIDENT Jubba Airways Fokker 50 flipped over during landing in Somalia

A Jubba Airways Fokker 50 flipped over on landing at Mogadishu Aden Abdulle International Airport in Somalia.

The Fokker 50 with registration 5Y-JXN was operating a flight from Baidoa to Mogadishu. The left wing was completely separated and it burst into flames. The left-hand wing of the turboprop broke at the wing root during landing and the aircraft cam to stop inverted next to the runway. A fire broke out and the aircraft sustained substantial damage in the incident.

Somalia’s Civil Aviation Authority reported that the Jubba Airways Fokker crashed at 11:28 on 18th July at the beginning of runway 05. The turboprop was reportedly carrying 36 passengers and crew members. All occupants survived the crash, without injuries.

Somalia’s Civil Aviation Authority has opened an investigation into the occurrence.
