ALERT The wingtip of Antonov An-26 has hit the ground during a low altitude pass

An Aer Caribe Antonov An-26 sustained substantial damage to its right-wing when its ring wingtip hit the ground in a low-level fly-by.

The aircraft was performing an extremely high-speed, low altitude pass at Mitu Airport in Colombia when the top of its right-wing hit the runway while it was banking along the runway. The pilots made a safe landing a few minutes later.

The Antonov An-26, with civil registration HK-4730, was involved in the incident. It was built in 1980 and is currently 41 years old.
