Sri Lankan Airbus A320neo sustained major damage to its left horizontal stabilizer and elevator after being hit by a ground vehicle at Male, Maldives.
The aircraft with registration 4R-ANB was operating flight UL1115 from Colombo-Bandaranaike International Airport to Malé-Velana International Airport.
The ground handling vehicle crashed into the SriLankan A320N while it was parked at Maldives’ Male Airport. It was scheduled to operate the return flight UL1116.
It was reported that no passengers were on board the aircraft, and nobody was injured in the incident. The plane was taken into maintenance.
The Airbus A320neo was delivered to Sri Lankan Airlines back in March 2017 and is currently 4.1 years old. It is configured in a two-class configuration with 12 seats in business class and 138 seats in economy class.
