BREAKING Anchorage Airport is currently closed due to a report of a bomb

Anchorage Airport (ANC) is currently closed to inbound flights due to a report of a bomb on an Asian-bound cargo flight.

The flight was diverted to ANC early this morning. FBI and Anchorage Police are on scene and leading the investigation.

  • UPDATE The Antonov An-225 Mriya was on approach but was forced to divert to Fairbanks International Airport.
  • UPDATE The plane is currently being searched in a secure, remote section of the airport.

Flights to Anchorage Airport may choose to divert to Fairbanks International Airport until ANC reopens.

At this time it is anticipated that ANC will reopen later this morning. Anchorage Airport – one of the world’s busiest cargo airports.
