An Alaska Airlines flight safely touched down at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport Friday night after reports of engine trouble.

An Alaska Airlines spokesperson says 157 people were on board flight #AS145 when an oil filter bypass light came on in the cockpit.

Pilots reportedly throttled down one engine and declared an emergency as a precaution as the flight neared the islands, the spokesperson said.

The plane took off from Seattle bound for Honolulu around 6:51 p.m. Just before 10 p.m., the aircraft landed safely on Oahu.

Airport rescue crews and state firefighters were on standby as the flight came in. The aircraft was able to taxi to a gate without incident, and passengers deplaned normally.

Mechanics will inspect the aircraft overnight.
