EMERGENCY SERVICES IN Northern Ireland are responding to an incident at an airfield in Co Down.
“Police and other emergency services are dealing with an incident at Newtownards Airfield.
“Our set emergency protocols are in place and we will provide an update in due course,” Inspector Mark Roberts said in a statement.
The airfield is located around 15km east of Belfast, and is home of the Ulster Flying Club.
The BBC reports that one person has been taken to hospital, and is in a serious condition, after a light aircraft was involved in an accident on the runway.
The broadcaster reports that a two-seater light aircraft was involved in an accident on a runway shortly after 11am.
