A plane crash has been reported near Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville.

Multiple agencies are on the scene after a plane crash near Fern Valley Road and Grade Lane, just south of Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

Preliminary reports indicate a major explosion followed by a large fire near Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, Kentucky. Early information suggests the incident may have involved a cargo aircraft operated by UPS Airlines.

All flights operations to Louisville International Airport are halted until further notice.

A large plume of smoke was visible around 5:30 p.m., and police have confirmed injuries at the scene.

Several sources confirm the plane involved in the crash is a 34-year-old UPS MD-11 (registration N259UP) which took off from Louisville to Honolulu as flight 5X2976.
