Two small private aircraft have collided while on approach to Schwäbisch Hall Airport in southern Germany.
At least two fatalities are reported after an ultra-light and a propeller aircraft collided with each other, six kilometers from the airport. “They were approaching the runway, I can not say more at this point in time“, says a police spokesperson.
One involved airplane was a Cirrus SR20 with registration D-EWTG, it was completely destroyed in the crash. The other one, a Dallach D.4B ultra-light aircraft (registration D-MJEK), burned down.
Germany’s Bundesstelle für Flugunfalluntersuchung – BFU (Federal Agency for Aviation Accident Investigation) is now investigating the incident, the number of fatalities may rise. Further details are not yet known.
Schwäbisch Hall is a small town in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is located around 50 kilometers north-east of Stuttgart.
