Sunday night, Ryanair #flight #FR1431 to Athens was taking off from Rhodes Airport shortly after 22:00 local time when when the aircraft was hit by a dog on runway.
The collision was instantly perceived by the captain. But at speed of V1, the Boeing 737-800 had to takeoff and stopped climb at 4,000ft before to return to Rhodes Airport few minutes later.
The aircraft (reg. EI-EBV) landed safely and technicians carried out the necessary inspection. The the “green light” was given later and the plane resumed its journey to Athens.
