The search vessel has been moving at a very low speed in a very specific area, an unusual behavior compared to standard search patterns.

In a video “MH370 Search – Jan 5, 2026 – Did the ship find something?” posted by gilchecksix, the speaker noticed an unusual behavior compared to standard search patterns for Ocean Infinity vessel, currently looking for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

He suggests this could indicate the use of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Unlike the Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) that follow pre-programmed paths for days, an ROV is tethered to the ship and controlled in real-time by an operator.

ROVs are typically deployed to get high-resolution photos or detailed inspections of specific objects or “points of interest” that were previously detected by AUVs.

The Timeline and Logic

  • AUV Cycle: AUVs generally have an autonomy of about 4 days.
  • The 4-Day Gap: The speaker notes that the ship first passed through this specific sector on December 30th. After moving north to deploy other drones, it returned to this exact spot about 4 to 5 days later (on January 4th).

This timeline suggests that Ocean Infinity ARMADA 86 05 recovered an AUV, analyzed its data, found something interesting in that initial sector, and has now returned to investigate further with an ROV.

The current activity is taking place near the zone proposed by experts Patrick Blelly and Jean-Luc Marchand, in an area the speaker has long advocated searching.

There has been no official communication from Ocean Infinity or the Malaysian government regarding a discovery. The speaker emphasizes that this is a personal analysis based on the ship’s movements.

If the ship resumes its “standard” search pattern toward the northeast in the coming days, it may indicate that nothing significant was found at this specific point.
