A 67-year-old woman lost consciousness mid-flight, causing a sudden medical emergency.

The flight U23366 departed Tenerife to Liverpool Tuesday, March 25 2025 but diverted to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

The A320 (registration G-EZUR) was off coast of Spain when the crew contacted ATC about an urgent medical emergency on board.

Air traffic controllers revealed the plane had to be diverted for emergency medical reasons as efforts to “revive a 67-year-old passenger who was unconscious” took place.

It was not immediately clear if the woman who fell ill was British.

Passengers on board were put up in local hotels for the night before continuing their journeys home the following day.

Flight EZY3366 from Tenerife to Liverpool on Tuesday evening was required to divert to Santiago–Rosalia de Castro where it was met by paramedics due to a customer onboard requiring urgent medical attention.”

Air traffic controllers said they facilitated a continuous descent and approach to runway 35 while medical care on the ground was coordinated with the airport.
