An IndiGo flight experienced an incident on landing at Chennai Airport on 8 March 2025 An A321 aircraft suffers tail strike only one month after twice in 6 months
On 8 March 2025, IndiGo Airlines flight 6E5325 suffered a tail strike during landing on runway 25 at Chennai Airport (MAA).
The Airbus A321-251NX (registration VT-IBI) was resuming service after 6 months repair on 6 February 2025 as the same aircraft suffered the same incident on 9 September 2024.
The plane age 2.1 years. It flew for the first time on 25/01/2023.
IndiGo has seen eight tail strikes in the last 18 months. and IndiGo’s rate suggests deeper issues, like pilot training or procedures.
In a statement, IndiGo said: “On March 8, 2025, an IndiGo Airbus A321 aircraft tail touched the runway during landing at Chennai airport. The aircraft is grounded and will be back in operations post necessary repairs and clearance.”
