British Airways flight from Heathrow to Newark was forced to return to London.
Friday, August 23 2024, British Airways flight #BA189 departed London Heathrow at 5:36 BST to for a 7-hour flight to Newark, NJ.
The Boeing 787-10 (registration G-ZBLF) did a U-Turn over the west of Ireland after one hour into the flight.
According to Shauns_Aviation, the pilot stated that “There were fumes in the rear Galley believed to be from the Air Conditioning unit”.
The crew required a quick fuel dump before landing back in Heathrow two hours after takeoff.
The aircraft was escorted by fire trucks after landing on runway 27R at LHR then taxied back to terminal 5.
The flight has been cancelled.
