Loganair flight from Lerwick to Glasgow declared an emergency and diverted to Aberdeen.

Loganair flight #LM436 departed Lerwick in the Shetland archipelago this Tuesday, July 23 2024.

The average flight duration is one hour to Glasgow, Scotland. But 25 minutes after departure, while cruising at 18,000 ft, the crew declared an emergency (squawk 7700).

The aircraft (registration G-LMSA) was experiencing an engine failure. The crew was forced to shut down the right hand turboprop engine.

The ATR 42-600 landed on a single engine on runway 34 at ABZ Airport.

Fire trucks were ready to reach the aircraft but the situation was well controlled by the pilots who performed a smooth landing.
