A neat way to slow the plane while reducing the risk of skidding on a rain-drenched taxiway after landing – usually reverse thrust is switched off before leaving the runway.

The jet inlet at the front of the engine continues to suck in air (and spray) whilst the opening on the engine side visibly blasts the outflow forwards and downwards.

It had rained incessantly for hours before this shot.
