VIDEO Debris Dismay on Doris Day

This is the second in a set of videos I’m doing on Storm Doris, which hit the UK on 23 February 2017.

With winds eventually gusting to 54 knots/62 mph there was an awful lot of general garbage blowing around at all sorts of altitudes here at BHX. Some of it may have come from miles away.

Most high-wind aviation videos show the direct effects on planes’ stability, but this one is more about the problems faced by jet engine designers in dealing with debris sucked in at the front.

It’s not surprising that it’s the Boeing 777-300 here which (presumably) ingests foreign objects, as it is has easily the ‘biggest’ jet engines on the planet.

The first Doris video, with all the go-arounds, is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d2w444j4jE
