Which airline became the World’s Largest due to Coronavirus crisis?

China Southern Airlines has became the World’s largest airline again. U.S. carriers American Airlines and Delta Airlines completed the list of top three largest airlines.

China Southern had a scheduled passenger capacity of 2,580,529 this Monday, overtaking both Delta Airlines and American Airlines.

Last week, China Southern was in third position with a scheduled capacity of 2,550,739.

Last week Delta Airlines was the largest airline in the world. However, they’ve now lost that position to China Southern and have slipped back to third place with American Airlines in second.

Delta had a scheduled capacity of 2,618,813 passengers last week. However, this week Delta has a scheduled capacity of 2,364,630.

In an interview, China Southern Senior Vice-President for International and Corporate Relations, Wu Guoxiang said:

“In three to five years we will be the largest in the world. We need the flexibility to cooperate the way we want.”
